Research priorities
- Reconstruction of socio-economic society-structures based on chronological and chorological analysis on sources from migration period graves and early medieval burial grounds
- Reconstruction of technological and cultural traditions, limited to a restricted area based on laboratory analyses on archaeological finds
- Technological and archaeological analyses on textiles and other organic artefacts
Current research topics
- The burial customs of the late RKZ and VWZ in northwestern Germany as reflected in grave equipment and items made from organic materials
- Structure and organisation of the early medieval economy and society in the East-Friesian coastal zone. The settlement area of Dunum, district of Wittmund, as a model region
- Pre-Roman and Roman iron age textiles from the marsh. Investigations on production and distribution.The example of Feddersen Wierde, district of Cuxhaven
- Investigation and documentation on first millenium AD grave-finds, recovered en bloc
