Organisational structure
Our broad-based research concept can only be implemented through close interdisciplinary collaboration between the natural and social sciences. These form two departments at the NIhK and shape the work to a great extent. As such, our experts in landscape and settlement archeology, coastal and quaternary geology, soil science, excavation technology, archaeo- / geoinformatics, historical geography, archaeobotany and vegetation history work together closely and across disciplines. As an independent research institution of the State of Lower Saxony, the institute has an extensive library, a restoration facility and building technology as well as an independent administration. In addition, a variety of editorial and layout work is carried out at the NIhK in order to publish the numerous results.
