Interim assessment and setting the course for the Redbad project

As part of the Redbad project, funded by the Interreg VI A-programme, the NIhK is involved in the conception of an exhibition and the creation of supplementary publications on the history of the Frisians between the 7th and 10th centuries. The exhibition is scheduled to open in autumn 2026, initially at the Fries Museum Leeuwarden and subsequently at the Ostfriesisches Landesmuseum Emden. On September 28th and 29th 2025, all institutions involved in the project met in Emden to discuss the progress of the work. Christina Peek and Hauke Jöns participated on behalf of the NIhK and provided information on the current status of the institute's work on the planned scientific publication and the ongoing textile archaeological research on early medieval wurt finds from the Dutch and German clay districts.
