Doctoral thesis successfully defended!

Research into Neolithic megalithic tombs has been on the NIhK's agenda for many years. An important part of the team is Dipl.-Prähist. Anja Behrens, who has researched several megalithic graves in recent years as part of the “Preserved in the bog” project in the district of Cuxhaven. It is remarkable that, in addition to this work, she was also able to focus intensively on the megalithic tombs of the Funnel Beaker culture on the island of Rügen and present her findings in a dissertation of more than 300 pages. After submitting her work as a doctoral thesis to Kiel University at the beginning of 2025, she now had to defend her exciting findings in front of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Kiel University. She passed this challenge with flying colours and was duly celebrated by fellow students, companions and the examination committee. As soon as she has published her dissertation, she can officially use her doctorate and devote herself fully to her new project “Between the rivers – against the tide?
