Visitor from Sweden to the project on shell-tempered ceramics

For over 15 years, there has been close cooperation between the NIhK and the Swedish ceramics expert Dr. Torbjörn Brorsson. He supports ceramics research at the institute by providing expert guidance to various projects based on his many years of experience. Particularly noteworthy is his support in evaluating chemical analyses of the raw materials used in pottery, which is a focus of ceramics research at the NIhK. The current DFG-project on early medieval shell-tempered ceramics also benefits significantly from his extensive knowledge and experience. The results achieved so far by the project were discussed in detail during a visit by Torbjörn Brorsson to Wilhelmshaven with the project leader, Prof. Dr Hauke Jöns, and Dr. Katrin Struckmeyer, the ceramics expert responsible for the research at the NIhK. In addition, plans were made to further expand and intensify the collaboration in the coming years. His knowledge of early medieval ceramics in Scandinavia and his close contacts with Scandinavian colleagues are particularly valuable for the current ceramic research at the NIhK.
