CoastAdapt: Science space for coastal protection launched

The first CoastAdapt project meeting was convened on 30 September 2024 at the House of Science in Braunschweig. In this project, participants from the fields of coastal research and coastal engineering (including representatives from TU Braunschweig, Leibniz University Hanover, University of Oldenburg, NIhK, NLWKN, National Park Wadden Sea Lower Saxony) are working together to enhance the sustainability of the coastal area and to develop forward-thinking strategies. The NIhK is contributing its expertise about how the coastal landscape adapted naturally prior to the construction of the dykes.

All participants presented their sub-projects at the kick-off meeting. The structure of the planned Master's degree course, provisionally titled ‘Sustainable Coastal Engineering and Science’, and details of the project organisation were discussed and initiated.

CoastAdapt was officially launched with this meeting.
