On November 4th, colleagues from the NIhK cheered the arrival of volume 11, Studies in Landscape and Settlement History in the Southern North Sea Region, the author took part online. The PhD thesis of Bente Sven Majchczack titled “the role of the North Frisian Islands within the early-medieval communication network” is an important result of the North Sea harbours project. The double volume consists of 588 pages illustrated with plenty coloured images and plates. Especially remarkable is the presentation of current excavation results from maritime settlements on the island Föhr and Sylt and their regional significance. Amongst the plentiful finds, the high-quality glass finds are especially remarkable. The book will be available at Marie Leidorf Verlag soon.
