Archaeological-conservational exchange in the NIhK despite pandemic times

Conferences or workshops with numerous participants are currently not possible. Therefore, a meeting that was planned since the beginning of the year, and which had to be postponed several times, could now only take place on a very small scale. The focus was put on questions concerning the conservation of archaeological textiles.

Mrs. Alice Costes (Student at ABK Stuttgart) recently visited the NIhK for two days to sift through the organic finds of six burials from the cemetery on the Fallward (Ldkr. Cuxhaven). Her visit in Wilhelmshaven served as preparation for further conservational studies. The aim is to preserve the textiles in the long term even after the investigations, in order to make them accessible for future generations of researchers and museum visitors.
