In the cornfield behind the land near Dörverden, Ldkr. Verden, the terrain slopes steeply towards the Weser. An ideal settlement site. During the Roman Iron Age and the Early Middle Ages, the area was densely populated, as the important traffic route along the Weser could be controlled from here. Not only goods came into the region via the river, knowledge and ideas also spread particularly quickly via these communication routes. In order to research these structures, selected places along the Weser and Aller in the Verden district are currently being prospected geomagnetically.
